Yesterday I experienced joy. I spent the afternoon with my granddaughter and her son, my great grandson. It was a simple afternoon, that is the best kind to me. I got there while Joey was taking a nap and Alex, his Mom and I decided to go out for lunch. Nothing fancy, just Friendly's.

I tip toed in when Joey woke up and peaked over the side of the crib and he had a smile that made my heart want to explode. There are no words that can explain the joy I get just watching him blossom into the toddler he will soon be.

I can't understand the way some people are always looking for something spectacular in their life, beyond what they have. It's all there in front of us all the time, we just need to learn how to recognize it.

Got up this morning and the air was cool and refreshing. I sipped my cup of coffee and could not get the silly grin off my face thinking about my Grandson Joey and how his Mom and Dad seem to be doing such a nice job in caring for him. I am telling you, it made my day. I was in a state of joy all day because of these simple pleasures.

I guess when we come right down to it the simple things are what makes me happiest. A beautiful day, a good book or and afternoon with my granddaughter and her son. I could ask for nothing more.
